Spring Gardens, a Jamaican restaurant located in Jamaica, NY, offers a promising array of seafood dishes at reasonable prices. Among the standout options are the Baked Stuffed Snapper and Curried Lobster, each showcasing the bold flavors characteristic of Jamaican cuisine. Many diners praise the hearty portions, with meals like Oxtails being particularly notable for their tenderness and flavor.
However, customer reviews reveal a mixed bag when it comes to service and consistency. While some patrons highlight the politeness of the staff and fast service, others, like Luree Griffin, express frustration over dry jerk chicken and unwelcoming attitudes during peak evening hours. Nk Sher echoes this sentiment, noting inconsistencies between visits, which have led to doubts about making Spring Gardens a regular stop.
Despite these mixed experiences, many diners agree that the food, particularly the Fried Chicken, and reasonable prices make Spring Gardens a standout in the area. With a little more attention to customer service, this establishment could easily elevate itself to a cherished gem in the local dining scene.

Reviews for Spring Gardens
Review highlights
Based on 696 reviewsSpring Gardens, a Jamaican restaurant in Jamaica, NY, is generally praised for its flavorful and reasonably priced dishes, particularly the oxtails and fried chicken, which many find satisfying. Customers appreciate the generous portions and consider it a convenient option near JFK Airport. However, feedback frequently highlights inconsistency in food quality, with some meals reported as dry or lacking expected tenderness. Additionally, while the food often receives positive remarks, service experiences are mixed; some patrons note polite and prompt staff, whereas others describe moments of tension or unsatisfactory interactions. Overall, Spring Gardens is recognized for good value and tasty cuisine but could benefit from improved consistency and customer service reliability.
I have never had jerk chicken taste so dry. Unfortunately this WAS my go to place for food. Usually the food is good into the evening. But maybe Sunday evenings aren’t a good time to get food from them. The chicken was so dry I choked on it. NO MOISTURE. The usual people were their usual selves. I did not like the tense situation of ordering food and getting an attitude in return. This won’t be my go to place for jerk chicken on a Sunday evening any more.
Very good food. The 2 ladies were very nice polite and gave me fast service. The reviews are very misleading. Best food in the neighborhood. Oxtails tender and very good price and amount of food. Update I went back twice the stewed chicken is dry and then the plate of oxtails was not the same size lots of rice little meat. They were still nice but I decided not to make this a reg place I eat
The food here is good. Worth the quick trip
Found this place coming from the JFK Airport. Reasonablely priced and give you a good healthy portoin..... $10 for or small and 12 for large..... other places are more. Food tastes great and fry chicken was one of the best!!
